   I recently purchased my first Speedmaster Professional and couldn’t be
   happier. I’m having a hard time trying to figure out the production date
   though. Watch is a 145.0022/345.0022 with bracelet 1171/633 and serial
   beginning with 3558. According to charts I’ve found online the watch was
   produced either 1972 or 1977. Do you know how I can verity the actual
   production date?

   Thank you for an excellent education about my watch. I had to correct my comments here because of what I’ve learned from you. The following is my original comment, the correction follows:
   Your dates may be a little off on your written date list, I believe. I was given an Omega Speedmaster in 1968 as a gift before Buzz Aldrin was the first to walk on the moon with his. Neil Armstrong left his in the LEM hanging there because the internal clock in the LEM failed. I heard that the .321 caliber was changed circa 1968 to the .861. My Speedy doesn’t have any reference to the moon landing or “Approved by NASA” on the back because it is a pre-moon landing watch by one year. I took it to a watchmaker for a cleaning recently and he confirmed the movement was an .861. I must have gotten one of the earliest .861 movements made by Omega. Although the .321 was probably worn on the moon because Buzz, owned his watch for a few years prior to the moon landing. I’m told the .861 is a better movement. Anybody is free to correct me. I’d like to know the truth as well, but I think I’m correct. BTW, nobody can find the first watch on the moon worn by Buzz Aldren. My research shows that he shipped it somewhere and it was “lost” during the shipping process. Somewhere, somebody now wears the really first watch on the moon? Can you imagine how much that Speedmaster must be worth?

   how frequently should you have a 3570.50 serviced? I heard somewhere 5 years.. but could that be stretched to 8?
