   I had an Omega Speedmaster Professional Co-Axial Schumacher and after a couple of uses of the chronograph it SHITED itself and the chronograph was running continuously – it cannot be stopped. The repair of this crap watch cost me $1000 Australian dollars. No more OMEGA

   Never considered it a “grail watch” until I got one on my wrist. Like my Seamaster, it felt like it belonged the moment I put it on. I’m negotiating right now for a Hesalite model.

   The Speedmaster Moonwatch is everywhere online. Perhaps the most talked about watch around. As someone to researches his watches before making a purchase reading about the Moonwatch on blogs / articles is unavoidable.
   I wanted to love it… I’d look at the variations: DSOTM, GSTOM all the Limited Edition runs – sometimes I’d tell myself I loved one of them but then that would disappear too quickly. In the end I knew I had to get one to see for myself as I wanted a vintage inspired chronograph which looked great on a leather strap in my collection. I decided that I couldn’t get the moonwatch professional because I have an issue with how common it is. So I paid the going rate for a Speedy Tuesday 1 in great condition. Initially I liked the watch. Wore it a fair bit but I quickly realised that the other 2 watches in my collection at the time (Explorer II & Panerai Submersible) were getting way more wrist time. So after 3 months of ownership I decided to part with it.
   Why I don’t like the speedmaster professional moonwatch:
   1. The bracelet doesn’t do it for me, also doesn’t have a premium feel to it
   2. The movement is just bad. Ok, so it was the only one to pass all of NASA’s tests (how many years ago?) – it is manual wind which is ok… But when wound up it has accuracy of around +10 seconds per day. For today’s standards this is not good
   3. The watch is loved for its heritage & history but in order to really get that connection, you need to get the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with hesalite Crystal. Hesalite is not a premium material for a watch Crystal. It does not sparkle how sapphire does, it picks up abrasions & micro abrasions very easily so it always has a slightly murky look to it.
   4. The watch is just too common to feel special. Everyone who collects watches seems to have one (following the herd mentality?).
   5. The price of the watch is too high for the quality of the finish & feel of the watch.

   I know this will likely bring out a whole storm of criticism considering how many of you all love the speedmaster but I’m tired of reading only positive reviews on this watch, when I own and have owned much better watches.
