   I especially liked the speculative talk in the beginning. Would also watch a video seeing you speculate about what brands will bring what kind of new releases on the market in 2023 or the something like that. 🙂

   I think it was leaked by the Omega youtube. It was the first picture I saw at least. They included a picture of the watch and description of the new spirate system. It was because it was set for premiere, but they didn’t realize it would show a preview of the premiere.

   The tech is great. Omega are trying so desperately to be “loud” with some of their watches. I think pretending they aren’t trying to is naive. They did the Speedy Tuesdays, they’re doing the limited by numbers made but not limited edition 321s and Snoopy editions. You can’t just go and buy one, that is simply not the case at all. They also make “boutique exclusives which is another game. They do a new limited anniversary watch almost as often as Grand Seiko do. They are trying to become Rolex in terms of planned scarcity with some models and then sell the ones “the plebs can get” to the masses.

   This tech is great. I hope it doesn’t see Moonwatches at £9k or so in 18months if and when they add it to that. At the moment this new model costs a lot more than the previous 44.25 racing models, even more than a ceramic cased dark side of the moon Apollo 8. I hope as part of this industrialisation they remain competitive price wise, otherwise they are going to have to start finishing like Glashutte or Breguet if they are moving to their price points.

   People paying for AP or Patek etc may well be buying into the hype. But there is more to a high horology watch than accuracy alone. If we only wanted accuracy we could all just buy a band 6 Casio and call it quits. Hand finishing, movement quality etc all count for something as you move up in price. Most high end watches from independents are nowhere close to as accurate as a Tudor Black Bay, but that’s not why they get bought.
