   I’ve got this one, the reduced (Japanese) and had a Moonwatch Speedmaster. I sold the Moonwatch. Too big and antiquated. The hesialite was a pain in the ass to polish. Yes, it was gorgeous, but I don’t drive a Studebaker and I don’t want one on my wrist if it wasn’t Grandpa’s. Both this and the reduced are far more functional and this one is chunky with a date. One actually has to look at the reduced closely to see it isn’t a Moonwatch and costs thousands less.

   I had the professional and the date both in my hands to decide, and the finishing of the date is way, WAY more impressive. The professional is 30m WR compared to 100m of the date, but the frequency of the date is about 30% higher, making the Chronograph of the professional look like a Quartz watch, very low… The professional is however, more classical and will fit with every type of strap, and of, course, has its undeniable great history behind. Actually, it looks like you are buying a vintage watch because of raw finishing. The guy there is right, if you are a collector you might want what every other collector wants, but I tell you, the date is much more features for 30% less price. Still, Speedmaster is a Chronograph watch, and not necessarily a Moonwatch…

   I listened to Paul aka Archie, got the Speedmaster MOTM AND NEVER REGRETTED IT. you always keep it wound manually, so no doubt unlike automatics (when you have multiple watches). The hesalite has a awesome warmer filtered light, GONE UP IN VALUE 2000$ in a few years, and ITS AWESOME..The automatics are a dime a dozen..
