Yes… hand at 3:20 is w-11678 p-34789 s-357 with a dora pair, but if I draw 2p (or 5p) next, what do I discard? If I still go for pinfu, there’s a furiten minefield to avoid (vg discard 3s, then draw 4s)… If I disregard pinfu, I have no yaku at all (beyond a bad reach, and/or tsumo, which you can’t rely on…)

In the second example, after my discard. If I get to tempai by drawing ryan-pin before any useful bamboo… what should I do? With two dora in hand is riichi right even when I’m not dealer? And is riichi out of question when I don’t have dora in hand, even though I’d have to pass my winning tile without a yaku to try to improve my hand? or does this depend on how early I get to tempai?
