A tool-assisted speedrun or tool-assisted superplay (TAS) is a set sequence of controller inputs used to perform a task in a video game. The input sequence is usually created by emulating the game and using tools such as slow motion, frame-by-frame advance, memory watch, and save states to create an extremely precise series of inputs.
Very nice stuff! Question: What’s stopping this from being done on a newer version? I have two guesses… The first is that the mods used to make this only work for 1.8… The other is that you chose 1.8 because it’s “the fastest”. (EDIT: I just realized this video was made in 2016. so that could have SOMETHING to do with it… XD YouTube, Y u gotta recommend me old stuff!? Lol)
Which, I will have you know, I am one of those loser whiney-babies who can’t stand when people treat every Minecraft update as the exact same game for speedrunning. xD I know the new end fight is significantly slower and more challenging, but that, plus other mechanics such as being unable to obtain eyes of ender from villagers, makes runs of 1.9+ a TON more interesting to watch for me since it requires more interesting thought and preparation.
Anyway, maybe the mods just haven’t been updated and I started ranting for nothing. xD Either way, this was really awesome to watch, and… INCREDIBLE music choice. 😉 I was like, “I recognize this… I feel like it was from EarthBound… But I can’t remember what part of the game it came from…” Then the 8-bit part started playing and I was like, “OH YEAH!!! It’s that Toby Fox song from the ROM hack!” Lol. Good stuff.

The music is Toby Fox – Megalo Strike Back
Awful choice of music. It doesn’t suit the mood of this speedrun.
I cant imagine nether portal can be used like that
